Hunter LaFever. Thirty years as Captain or Crew fishing South Florida waters, one phone number. Your boat, my experience. I bring my rods and reels, or we use yours. Either way I've got my personal tools, my rain gear, and a few of my selected secret baits at all times. No hype, no fluff. Just fishing.

On a boat, the fishing area in the back is called the cockpit. It's known by captains and mates as the pit, because that's where the fight takes place. The pit is where most of the injuries during fishing happen. Lures, knives, props, gaffs, hooks, teeth, tails, slip and fall. All of it lives in about eight feet of deck, if you're lucky.
That's where I work. That's where I teach. That's where the day gets run.
I've been fishing South Florida 30 years, for everything that swims. As a USCG-licensed captain, I've worked charter and private since I started. I teach mostly private now. Multiple consecutive years I was a headliner at the Miami Boat Show, running planer fishing, bonita strip cutting and rigging, swordfishing. I also filled the gaps between special guests with free rigging sessions and other special requests for the duration of the show days. I was at the booth all day teaching, or a guest was.
I want you to know why you got the bite, how, and what to do to repeat the process without me.
No hype, no fluff. Just fishing.
I'm not a charter. I'm not the captain or mate. I'm the teacher and fishing expert. You're not riding along on my boat. I'm teaching you to fish yours. Your hull, your cockpit, your gear or mine. I can bring rods, tackle, bait, whatever the day needs, and we run it together until you can run it without me.
I'm not a tackle shop trying to sell you $5K to $50K worth of gear you don't know how to use. We can teach you what you need. One technique a trip or one class at a time, the right way, until it's yours.
Multiple consecutive years a headliner at the Miami International Boat Show, running the bait rigging station, cutting bonita strips, teaching planer fishing and swordfishing to whoever pulled up a chair. We work with all ages.
Same thing I'll do on your boat. Just without the convention center.

I run hands-on bait rigging classes on land, with the bait and supplies in front of you. Bring a group and the rate comes down, everyone learns together.
I'm also available for seminars, fishing group bookings, club events, and paid speaking. If you've got a room that wants to learn, call us and we'll set it up.
Teaching is the heart of it, but it isn't all of it. Here's the rest of what I do and the people I work with.
If it's not on the list and it deals with fishing or fishing boats, we can help, or we know someone who can.

South Florida's central coast. Close enough to fish hard, far enough to cover real water.
I'd rather use the day wisely than burn it driving.

A fish is only as good as how you treat it, from the gaff to the cooler to the pan. Recipes, prep, and fish handling, posted here as we go.
